Are you having trouble forming a healthy routine or recently fallen off the health wagon? In this post we reveal the simplest, most effective way to either form or raise your healthy lifestyle back from the dead!
Life happens, whether it’s something fabulous (like a vacation or wedding) or a not-so-happy life event (like a death or job-loss), both expected and unexpected changes in your life can throw off your routine.
If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that I’ve achieved wonderful success in my health pursuits since working with one of GForce’s trainers, James. Here’s Part 1 and 2 of my GForce training adventure.
(Actually, an up-t0-date post is needed in this personal training adventure series because to-date, I’ve lost over 20 pounds, a ton of inches and even more body fat!)
Steph’s Roadblocks to a Healthy Routine
Recently, though, I’ve been going through some major life events which have totally thrown me off my groove. Although I’ve been doing my best to maintain a modicum of my routine, it’s been challenging to really get back to where I was.
You see, I moved for October 1st and if packing, locating a place of residence, moving and unpacking wasn’t enough, the building I moved to was/is under construction! The apartment I moved into (which is SO SWEET, complete with a fireplace!) not only needed work done but already had a tenant living here!
In order to make my move date, I shared the space with a stranger for two weeks, unpacking what I could until the new apartment in the building was ready for my temporary roomie. They’ve been renovating on the weekends so even though I have my own space now, with every set of renos I need to clean and then I’m able to unpack that section of the apartment.
Whew! Obviously, I haven’t been able to train with my GForce at-home personal trainer and it’s been 6 weeks now.
Renovations are still going on but it’s at a point where my reasons for not getting back to my routine are soon becoming excuses. I’ve come too far for that to happen and regress!
Easiest Way to Reinstate Your Healthy Routine
So what I started doing 2 weeks ago is to incorporate one healthy habit back into my daily routine. Last week it was journaling which helps clear my head and process emotions so I can cope better with these challenges.
This past week I incorporated 15 minutes a day alternating between core exercises and yoga stretches. This I added on top of my daily journaling.
So, what’s been working for me is baby steps, one at a time. The idea is to perform 1 healthy habit (it doesn’t have to take very long) into your daily routine until it sticks. This could take a week or even a month, but it must be consistent.
Then, when you’re ready, add another healthy habit into your routine. And just to warn you, if you try this out, because we only have 24 hours in a day, you’ll probably have to replace less healthy habits with the ones you incorporate.
Within the next 2 weeks, I suspect I’ll be ready to start training with James again. And I’m so excited!
Have you had any experience forming a healthy routine or reinstating one? Do you have any suggestions or tips that worked for you to share with us?
